Exposure to early-life stress is linked to long-lasting risk for psychopathology. By integrating animal models of stress exposure with human studies, we identified gene networks linking early adversity to eating behavior alterations and emotional disorders in children. My current focus is on uncovering individual variations in the development of mental health disorders following both stress and environmental enrichment exposure. By combining animal models, gene expression analysis, RNA sequencing, and human cohorts, I have been working on identifying molecular and anatomical signatures of resilience. Understanding these biomarkers may lead to effective strategies for improving mental health outcomes, especially in at-risk populations.

Randriely Merscher Sobreira de Lima est boursière postdoctorale du FRQ secteur Santé au département de psychiatrie de l’Université McGill.
Ses intérêts portent sur les mécanismes neurobiologiques qui sous-tendent le risque à long terme de psychopathologie, en particulier de dépression et d'anxiété, qui découle de l'exposition au stress en début de vie.
